Manager of Warehouse and Logistics

We are seeking a team player to strategically manage and optimize the accurate forecasting and planning of the ordering and movement of product/inventory with the goal of meeting the Company’s distribution requirements in finished goods. Monitor and review the warehouse operations and organization with strong focus on controlling costs and inventory levels.

The individual will provide leadership, administrative and organizational expertise to warehousing and logistics.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The manager of warehouse & Logistics will address and efficiently lead the following activities:

  • Distribution Network Configuration – develop and maintain an efficient network of transportation suppliers to ensure timely delivery of Raw, finished & Packaging materials. Negotiate the most efficient delivery method to acquire these materials, maximizing cost savings on logistics.
  • Information Sharing – develop clear communication channels and methods to share data including demand signals, forecasts, inventory, transportation, etc.
  • Inventory Management – Monitor accurate data of quantity and location of Packaging & Raw material inventory and work in progress. Co-ordinate with the Production Planning on finished goods inventory levels & production scheduling. Responsible for the Cycle Counting program and annual physical inventories, if required.
  • Develop a system of specifications with the input of Production, R&D, Quality Assurance and Marketing.
  • Ensure all purchasing and distribution practices achieve the requirements of SQF.

Cross functional:

  • Lead the final launch of our new MRP system
  • Execute supply chain transactions, manage supplier relationship and control processes.
  • Actively participate in the budgeting process to accomplish sales forecasts and profitability.
  • Proactively work with Production, Quality, Sales and Finance to accomplish objectives.

Management:

  • Motivate and lead department staff. Identify and provide coaching and training to enhance employee professional development and value to the Company.
  • Develop warehouse staffing and operation with the assistance of the warehouse lead.
  • Optimize and maintain the company trucks.

Logistics:

  • Manage logistics to include inbound and outbound operation including all fulfillment activities, warehousing and transportation to warehouse and to customers.
  • Manage the movement of storage of raw materials, work in process inventory and finished foods from production to customer.

Qualifications:

  • Be highly proficient at excel
  • 5 years’ experience including full responsibility for the management of supply chain activities in a food manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of GMP in Manufacturing, developing a thorough knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations is highly beneficial.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Proven track record for driving continuous improvement, increasing efficiencies, reducing costs and implementing supply chain best practices.

Other pertinent data:

  • Expand and simplify key performance indicators (KPI’s) and metrics for the department
  • Establish and manage appropriate inventory targets throughout the supply chain
  • Employ risk management strategies to drive improvements and reduce costs
  • Develop, recommend and effectively execute advanced sourcing strategies in support of new and existing business objectives
  • Manage cross functional activities between supply chain, logistics, sales and operations
  • Able to multitask – strong project management skills
  • Detail oriented / team player - Demonstrated leadership ability
